NEW YORK — December 29, 2017 — Alliance MMA, Inc. ("Alliance MMA" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: AMMA), the only publicly-traded professional mixed martial arts (“MMA”) company that unifies elite regional promotions and aspiring MMA champions, announced today that SuckerPunch Entertainment (“SuckerPunch”) client and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (“UFC”) Featherweight Champion Max Holloway has been named Rolling Stone Magazine’s 2017 Fighter of the Year. This announcement honoring Holloway was a fitting capstone for a highly successful 2017 during which he earned, then recently successfully defended, the UFC Featherweight Championship.
Max Holloway Named Monster Energy Brand Ambassador
Monster Energy, the official energy drink sponsor of the UFC, has recently entered into an annual sponsorship agreement with Holloway which includes wearing the Monster Energy logo on his fight shorts during the 2018 campaign.
“I am very excited that a prominent international brand like Monster Energy is willing to share in my MMA success story,” said Max Holloway, current UFC Featherweight Champion. “I’ve trained hard and feel fortunate to have fought successfully to arrive at this place, and am really looking forward to representing Monster Energy, and the UFC, to the best of my abilities by continuing to perform at the highest possible level.”
SuckerPunch Signs Three Top Prospects to Management Contracts
During December, the Company’s subsidiary SuckerPunch Entertainment, consummated multi-year fighter management agreements with three top prospects, adding to their expanding list of nearly 150 contracted athletes. Welterweight Ben “Brutal” Egli boasts a 10-1 professional MMA record with all 10 wins coming by way of stoppage. Top flyweight prospect Jordan Espinosa who was recently victorious on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series is on a 7-0 run in the flyweight division. Bakkes is a former six-time Dutch Judo Champion who was ranked number 10 in the world.
“We are extremely pleased with the Monster Energy sponsorship negotiated on behalf of Max, and are looking forward with great anticipation to securing similarly lucrative partnerships throughout 2018 for him, as well as our other premier athletes,” said Brian Butler-Au, SuckerPunch Managing Partner. “We are equally energized by acquiring the top prospects we signed in December, as each of these outstanding fighters has the ability to move up and compete at the highest level.
